July 31.—The United States consulate here has béen besieged since Monday by hundreds of European immigrants, frantically seeking passports vises to the United States. DETROIT, July 31.—Two men, a woman and a baby were rescued from a burning launch here yesterday by Horace F. Dodge, jr. wealthy De- troft sportsman. Dodge was on Lake St." Clalr testing out one of his fleet of speedy motorboats when he sight- ed a launch enveloped in flames about a mile from the shore of Grossé Pointe Village.
