SHOEMAKER ELECTED HEAD OF MONARCHS Club Hears Address by Semator Copeland—Will Entertain Oratory Contestants. C. Wendel Shoemaker was elected president of the Monarch Club at its first “birthday banquet,” in: the Ra- leigh Hotel, last night. H. W. Cutler was elected first vice president. Oth- officers elected were: D. J. Fuqua, second vice president; H. S. Shepard. secretary; Willlam P. Killeen, treas- urer, and W. L. Gary, sergeant-at- arms. Immediately following the clection the club was presented its charter by H. S. Omohundro, national president.
