STEA — DULL STEEL MARKET IS RECORD FOR WEEK Further Drastic Curtailments in Output Ordered—Copper Quiet, Lead Demand Fair. NEW YTORK. May 10.—Underiying vonditions in steel have been very un- *eltled during the past week, and further drastic curtailments of production have ¢Peen made to conform wiih the very slow demand. While stocks are not be- lieved to be burdensome, buyers are evi- dently holding off in anticipation of lower prices. In fact, concessions were made in some directions during the Week, and it is thought that more may follow. Leading producers are said to be anticipating a reduction in wages. The demand for pig iron was still limited to small quantities, but prices were fairly steady as the outpul was small Copper ruled quiet. Recent offerings below 13% cents for electrolytic de- livered appear to have been absorbed, * but domestic demand has fallen off since the buying of last week, and there | has been no improvement in export business owing to fluctuations in ex- change and further reselling by German interests. Iead was easy following weakness abroad, but demand continued fair, a some interests renort all of their output afready booked. MSHIPS. See Colorado This Summer.
