A short business meeting vas held, the captain read several nouncements and the different girls re tried out and assigned for parts in_the field meet. On Saturday, May 3, the members of Pine Cone Troop, No. 34, Vera Law- rence, captain, went to Children's Hospital and gave an entertainment for the children and visitors at the spital at 4 o'clock. The program sisted of a sketch, “The Ceremony f the Scout Laws":'then a song by “Scouts of America,” with at the piano, and violin #ccompaniment by Ina Lawrence. Lillie Hazel sang and danced. After this the troop gave a fancy drill, the girly dressed in dainty crepe paper Costumes, most of which they made hemselves Each scout gave flowers to one of the tiny invalids present, and it was + joy to see the delight with which the were served by the nurses. The girls plan to make other visits 10 the hospital to do their bit toward cheering the little “shut-ina” Among the girls of the troop present were Katherine Peaper, elyn Hazel, D, Soper, 4 Inscoe, Lou Snyder, Johnson, Helen King and Kathryn Mushake, Some of the members of the troop have put out posters issued by the Wild Flower Preservation Society, urging the protection of dogwood. The regular meeting of the troop ‘was held Monday evening at 7 o'clock in the Anacostia Methodist Church. Plans were made for attending the field meet. A moonlight hike was nlanned for this week, probably Friy day evening.
