AGCUSE DOZEN MEN OF KLAN ACTIVITIES Informations Prepared for Action Against Residents of Morehouse Parish, La. By the Associated Press. NEW ORLEANS, April 14—David L Garrett of Monroe, district attorney for the sixth judicial district, Includ- ing Morehouse parish, was on his way home early today with thirty-| one bills of information in his posses- sion charging more than a dozen cit- izens of Morehouse parish with vari- ous crimes growing out of the mask- ed band activities there last year, ac- | cording to a story published in the New Orleans Times-Picayune this morning. Among those whose names appear upon the bills of information, accord- ing to the published article, are Capt. J. K. Skipwlith, exalted cyclops of the Morehouse chapter of the ku Kiux Klan; his son Oliver, Dr. B. M. Mc- Koin' of Monroe, former mayor of Mer Rouge; L houn of Bas- trop, form: Tiff of More- house par Kirkpatrick, Kelly Harp, Ne ay and T. Jeff Burnett, former Morehouse deputy sheriff. The names of Ed. C., to levy an assessment of 100 per cent on the shareholders of that institution which recently closed its doors. The assessment means that the shareholders of the defunct bank must make good §200,000, the amount of the capital, in addition to the loss of the value of the shares they held. —————— TO MAKE COAL SURVEY. Chicagoan Heads Committee for Investigating Storage. NEW YORK, April 14.—Appoint- ment of W. L. Abbott of Chlcago as chairman committee to make a nation-wide coal storage survey in co-operation with the United States Coal Commission and the Department of Commerce was announced today by the Federated American Engincering Societies. Other members of the committee, which will include engineers repre: senting all sections of the country, will be named in the near future, said Mortimer E. Cooley, dean of the University of Michigan, president of the federation. Decision to under- take the survey wds reached by the exccutive board of the American En- gineering Council, executive body of the federation, at a recent meeting in Cincinnati Chairman John Hays Hammond of the Coal Commission said that he and his associates were relving upon en- gincering methods and 4 operation of the eng country in the effort to solve the coal problem.
