TAR, WASHINGTON, S50 WILL CLOSE ALL OPPORTUNITIES - Washingtonians Give $8,000 , and Fill Many Homes I A CHRISTMAS MESSAGE. #? This is Christmas day, with all its joys and blessings. After weeks of preparation, comes the consummation in family gather- ings, exchange of tokens of affection and remembrance of those at a distance. as president of the Associated Charities, make a last-minute ap- peal for those remaining Christmas Opportunities whose homes are still hanging in the balance. I trust that many will find it in their hearts today to remember these families with their gifts. Up to last night $8,000 had been received, leaving $5,000 needed to save these homes for the coming year. The office of the Asso- ciated Charities, 923 H street northwest, will be open until noon on Monday to receive any contributions that one may have to send or bring. Checks may be made payable to John Joy Edson, treasurer. Let it not be true that any one of these homes need be broken up because not enough folks cared. (Signed) CUNO H. RUDOLPH. With Happiness. Up to last night $8,000 had been re- celved at the office of the Assoolated Charitles for the fourteen Christmas op- portunities, Earller in the day four of them, Nos. 1, 5, 7 and 8, were declared closed, being fully subscribed. = Five thousand dollars is still needed for the remaining ten, and it is hoped that this amount will be found in tae malls on Monday morning.
