THE SELF-STARTER.—Otdinatily, the instruction books tell you not to keep your foot on the starter button 1f the enginé won't start fight away. That's wrong. When starting your <ar, Keep your fcot on the starter but- ton untll the engine starts. 1f it faily to start because you're out of gas, keep your fodt on the button anyway. You might even hold the button down ‘while somebody goes to get gas for you. This will just give the starter & little extra exercise. and may fot even fun your battery down. THE CRANKCASE.—Some people hive a habit of putting oil in the erankease every hundred miles or so. This is also wrong. It Is only neces- sary to put oil in the efankease once or twice a year. Too much oll enly 800ts up the spark plugs and makes the engine run badly. Putting in oil only énce or twice a year will keep the spark plugs nice and clean and the motor won't always be covered with oil and grease. There is a slight pos- sibility that in time you might burn our your bearings this way, but then, look at the money you save on oil. (Our price for putting in new bea: ing, $275.)
