Mrs. Frederick R. Harris, who en- tertained a brilliant company at din- ner Thursday evening in her new partment at 1302 18th street north- west, which is one of the most artistic and charming in Washington, wore a ravishing gown made in the new Spanish style with a cuirass-like bodice ! and a very bouffant skirt of mauve chif- § fon mounted over orange chiffon, with an under dress of gold and silver lace, which was wired at the hips to give the wew distended effect. ‘The satin, bodice, of brocaded lamine in which silver, gold, orange and orchid shades predominate, was fashioned with the high neck line at the back, tiny short sleeves and a square decollete, each of which was edged with a narrow frill of gold lace. The skirt had flowing panels at the front and back of the lamine brocade, and a cluster of purple and cerise flowers at the left side of the bodice near the waist line gave an added charm. She wore a beautiful Span- ish comb in her hair. Mrs. Harris also has a new street costume which is exceedingly smart and especially well adapted to her 1all, graceful figure. It is of mid- night blue tricolette serge, a one- piece model, made on the new long, slender lines, with an unusual effect at the front, where the rather full tunic is attached to the long-waisted Dbodice. _Steel-color platinum bead em- broidery appears on the bodice, skirt and sleeves, and the bodice, with its . ‘Venetian neck line, has a collar of exquisite antique silver metal lace and a short cape falls at the back, with platinum tassels weighting the edge. The embroidery borders the skirt, the design in points, which reach from the hem half way to the waist line.
