te? For Week-end in New ‘Memorial. Building Federation Project. to Honor Pioneer Mothers Will Be Featured in Program A series of public affairs at which Seed mothers of this vicinity will! 1. Borthi be honored guests, are planned for this week-end, when a group of block prints done by noted American and Mexican artists will be displayed at}, the new World War Memorial build- ing. The exhibit will be opened to the public on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:30 o'clock. A lecture accompanying the prints, describing the methods used in‘ mak- ing them and something about the various kinds will be read by Mrs. William Langer Saturday afternoon, and by Miss Bertha Palmer, state su- perintendent of public instruction, Sunday. In addition a brief musical program will be presented by a clar- inet trio, composed of Nina Melville, Russell Saxvik and Donald Lund. Mrs. Florence Davis, eighth district chair- man of the pioneer mother project, sponsored by the North Dakota Fed- eration of Women’s clubs, will explain the plan for erecting a monument to the pioneer mothers of the state. The event is being arranged by Mrs. Davis, who has chosen as her assistant hostesses, Mrs. George F. Shafer, wife of the governor, and the wives of two former governors now living in Bismarck, Mrs. John Burke and Mrs. J. M. Devine. Daughters of pioneer women will assist visitors during the afternoon, while pioneer mothers will preside at the refresh- ment tables. Six members of the Junior Study club will help in the serving. Pic- turesque door hostesses will be two members of the Sakakawea Indian girls cluo, in native costume. Mem- bers of both clubs are practically all granddaughters of North Dakota Pioneer women. Decorations for the affair will be carried out in the state colors, pink and green, and the prairie rose, the state flower will adorn the tables. Bismarck people as well as those in this territory will be given an op- portunity to view this collection of prints, which is the first to be sent into the state. A silver offering, will be left by all who care to show their appreciation. * oe OK Mrs. J. P. French and Mrs. A. J. | Arnot were named as a cammittee to make arrangements for the Current Events club anniversary luncheon March 25, at a meeting of the group ‘Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. W. W. Wood. Mrs. Arnot had a paper on “The French in Education” which placed emphasis on the teach- ing of patriotism and nationalism in. the French schools. While this. is characteristic of the French educa- tional system, Mrs. Wood showed that, instruction is thorough and that illit- eracy throughout thé nation has been reduced to about 3 per cent. Mrs. George Register lead the discussion of the chapter from the club text, “French France.” * OK In compliment to Miss Ruby Kline, R. N., who will become the bride of Lester Banberry, Bismarck, month, Mrs. David ~McDonald and Mrs. M. A. Schrader entertained at a kitchen shower Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. McDonald, 414 Fighth St. The time was passed in- formally with games and Miss Kline received her gifts in a large basket decorated in green and white. Green tapers and appointments in keeping with St. Patrick’s day were used for the tables. There were 12 guests. * * * Mr. and Mrs. J. P.
