Leaders of the Homemakers’ club of Burleigh county met in Bismarck at the Commercial club rooms March 5 and 6 for the first spring lesson. ‘This lesson was upon the home gar- den and given by County Agent H. O. Putnum. The Cross Country Home- makers of the Spur vicinity will meet at the home of Mrs. Earl Snyder on the third Thursday, March 19. All members are requested to be present. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Snyder, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Welch, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Reed, Marcus Trembly and Margaret McMurrich were Bismarck visitors Thursday. The little folks of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Boyd are having a seige of chicken-pox. The little boy and sec- in Uttle girl are reported to be quite A number of the neighbors of this vicinity met in the Menoken town hall Friday evening to hear Mr. Mad- dock:and Mr. Turner speak on the Farmers’ Union. Pictures were to be given also but on account of Menoken not being on the high-power line, they had to be omitted. Mr. Bliss of McKenzie gave a brief talk also. The meeting was conducted by C. D. Most of the gentlemen attended a farm machinery sale at the Minneapolis Co. in the afternoon. Albert Boran and sister, Mrs. Ives motored to Bismarck Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Welch and family, Marcus Trembley and Ralph Snyder visited at the Doppler home Sunday. Glen Oder, who has been attending @ flying school in Lincoln, Neb., this winter, is home again. Lawrence Doppler, who is still attending the school, is expected home soon. H.-Corey to Sterling to catch the train for Minneapolis. Mr. Corey has been suffering with a bad leg for many years and his pain had be- come 80 great that he was unable to bear it any longer and decided to go to Rochester to have it attended to, even to having it amputated if need- ed. «On the way down he was taken quite ill on the train and taken to a hospital where he was informed that to have it amputated would be most fatal. After taking some treatment for his nerves he returned home - Services were held in St. Mary’s Catholic Church Sunday with Rev. Father Schweitzer of Haz- elton as pastor. Mrs. Pauline Thorsness has been quite ill with the flu throughout the week, but is somewhat improved at this writing. George Hanwell, father of Thomas and Raymond Hanwell, is quite ill following a stroke of paralysis Satur- day evening. Mrs. Jonn Koch passed away at her home here Wednesday afternoon after a short illness of several days. Death followed a complication -of troubles chiefly pneumonia. She leaves her husband, five sons and three daughters: Mrs. Geo. Keller, Mrs. Charles Keller, Amelia, Alvin, Edward, Harding, Charles and Christ, to mourn her loss. Funeral rites were conducted by Rev. Christ of Wilton and interment was made in a ceme- tery one mile southwest of Macom- ber.
