h Ry ve 4 sy | DODGE BROTHERS SEDAN IMPROVED Unusual: interest in the improved all-steel bodies is manifested by the constant throng of visitors at the Dodge Brothers Exhibit Show. The low swung graceful lines of the new bodies and the attractive colegite which they are now finished are being admired by all Who see the > cars. Not only are there notable engine refinements, resulting in a surprising new smoothness and quietness of op- eration, but the bodies are lower and the doors wider in appearance. The improvement which is most apparent , at first glance is the narrow’ of all the pillars. Their present slen- “derness affords vision heretofore at- tainable only in an open car, yet none of the unusual strength of Dodge Brothers all-steel body has heen sac- rificed. ‘ : The car is considerably lighter and s an entirely new snap and elas- ity. A notable advance has been made * in the windshield. It is now of one- niece conctruction, escily adiustable to any angle and affords clear une vubeetleu viv at any putt uf weather. An easily and conveniently '¢ operated cowl ventilator is provid ‘1ne windshield visor has been red signed and is more attractive in a) pearance. ° For the first time Dodge Brothers Sedans are finishea in Lacquer. The; turquoise striping sets off beauti- fullv the deep lustre of the deep coolie hlue. The Type A Sedan is upholstered in blue gray mohair, with rear floor carpet to match. Black walnut. fin- ish instrument panel and window mouldings add to the dignity of the interior. Natural finish wood wheels or disc wheels are optional. Bullet shaped headlamps are standard equip- ment. The cushions of the Type B Sedan are, as before, of the best grade of hand buffed Blue Spanish leather— insuring cleanliness and, in addition, teh long life for which Dodge Broth- ers upholstery enjoys a world-wide reputation. 3 Another important feature of the Type B Sedan is the fact that the rear seat back as well as the cushion an be lifted out in a few seconds to pérmit use of the entire compart- ment whenever so needed for trans- porting luggage or light bulky mer- chandise. This feature makes a spe- appeal to salesmen, farmers, tourists and campers and is frequent- ly a great convenience to any owner. > The same detachable feature in the Type A Sedan makes thorough clean- ing of the genuine mohair rear seat back and cushions a simple opera- tion. In fact any section of the trim- ming in the rear of either the Type A Sedan or the Type B Sedan can be taken out in a few minutes as a unit or section after removal of a few serews or tacks. This simplifies the cleaning of a badly soiled section or revair of ~a damaged one. Floor boards and narrow strips in a very vow places where needed for attach- ng upholstery materials are the only ri 's of wood entering anywhere in- to the construction of tl jes. “It is not pleasant to think of a dents of any sort,” says Mr. M. B. ilman of the M. B. Gilman com- ioc me Ah, oz pany, local Dodge Brothers dealer, —“in fact, Dodge Brothers have never utilized ‘scare copy’ in any of their advertising—but among the crowd of people who constantly stop to exam- ine the all-steel bodies one repeatedly hears someone telling ofan accident where passengers in Dodge Brothers motor cars escaped uninjured from accidents in which, but for the strength of the all-steel body, serious injury or even loss of life would have been certain. “Safety in accidents, however, is only one of the many advantages of I-steel construction. Due to the broader vision a feeling of greater security and safety is afforded all the time one is driving. The increased strength of the steel body insures better fitting doors and absence of body squeaks and noises throughout the long life of the car. “This safety, plus ease of control, plus eleven-year-old world wide reputa: for dependability accounts for the large number of inquiries we have received and sales of Dodge Brothers Sedans we have made lately when a second car is needed as a family cai Dodge Coupe Offers Dependability and | Driving Comfort| “If a questionnaire should be sent out to a thousand commercial sales- men ad professional men each of whom spends several hours out of each day behind ‘the steering wheel of his car, asking what characteristics | of a business motor car they con- sider most important there would be difference of opinion as to the orde of relative importance, but all would agree on following requirements: Dependability, riding comfort, ease of operation, lasting attractiveness of | s appearance, low operating cost per mile, convenient space for transport: ing luggage or samples, and safety, says M. The automobile has markedly in- fluenced the development of the Most important unit of America’s transportation system, the fubli¢ highways. During 1924, 40,000 miles of public highways were surfaced. On January lst, there were in the .| United States approximately 470,000 miles of paved roads. These paved roads are the direct result of the introduction and growth of the au- tomobile as a transportation unit. The automobile has become a major factor in solving the world’s trans portation problems. Motorized, trans- portation is replacing the llama in Peru, the donkey in Colombia, the pony in Iceland, the ox in Scandi- navia, the coolie in China, the jin- riksha in Japan, the camel in Egypt, the elephant in India and the horse in America. It also is reinforcing or supplanting electric and steam railways in the United States and other countries. 2,131,332 motor trucks in the Unit- ed Sthtes haul billions of tons of freight billions of miles annually. 60,000 motor buses are used to trans- port passengers throughout the Unit- ed States. 470,000 children are transported daily in motor buses to ‘and from school. 70 per cent of the milk supply of six major cities is hauled by motor- THE DODGE BROTHERS : “UMN 2 ized transportation and this percent- age probably holds approximately Rood through nited States, 33 railroads in the United States and Canada use motor tricks as part of their shipping service. 2,821,085 mo- tor vehicles assist in widening the market radius of the farmer, enable him more casily to dispose’ of his Products and to realize’ more from their sale. Approximately 150,000 physicians enlarge their working radius, their incomes and their capacity to serve humanity through the agency of mo- torized transportation. You Are ENTITLED To KNOw THE FACTS ’ 20,000, 000 motor vehicles now travel the American highways. 50,000,000 Americans ride in these cars every day in the year, Safety for this vast army of travelers is a national issue, and where safety is involved plain speaking isa publicduty. It is high time the public real- {zed—as experts have long realized —that automobile bodies should be made of stee/ —not of wood or any other fragile material. Indeed, it is one of the myster- its of this usually progressive industry that the all steel - body is not already in uni- versal use. It willbe before long. Public opinion will demand‘it—as it now demands that railway sleeping cars be all steel. ° : ii For even a child knows that Steel is stronger than wood —that steel will not splinter or burn—and that all steel bodies will stand up under impacts that would crush ordinary bodies to bits. That is why Dodge Brothers pioneered in introducing the the all steel body—pioneered again recently, in improving: and perfecting it— pioneeg, now, in urging its adoption by every automobile ‘builder in the world. The issue is plain— Manufacturers must build safely if the automobile industry is to hold its pres- ent high place in public use- fulness and esteem. _ And the all steel body—as ex- emplified in Dodge Brothers Motor Car—is the greatest single. advance -in motoring safety made in'the last fifteen The car will continue to be a “four.”.
