| | ee THREE SECTIO SS JANUARY 7, 1922. . “SECTION THRE The Byways of Fashion | IT’S NOT SO MUCH WHAT YOU WEAR AS THE WAY YOU WEAR IT. i ect cta EE Lae By Margery Wells. Copyright. 1922, (New York Evening World) By Press Publishing Co. OLOR is the chief expression of 4 C personality. It needs only a spot, but that spot to an expert can tell more of a story about the things you are thinking and doing than was visible to the soothsayers of old, If you feel bright colors then don’t be afraid to wear them in one way or another. You needn't wear 4 whole red dress, but a red hat is always a beautiful thing to see, and a spot of orange trimming on a dark gown can bring inspiration to many a dull life. Don't block your way with too much dull brown and dark blue. If you do these two colors consistently enough they can act as a sort of a cloud around you, never permitting the really pleasant rays of your dis- position to show. Now, a border vo cerise braid around the plainest blue frock often adds that touch of style which marks the dress for an out- standing thing among its surround- ings. A touch of orange with brown is good. Jade green shapes up the dark blue tones in a remarkable man- ner. Gold and silver are wonderful with taupes andrybrowns. You can get the contrast with a string of beads, sometimes with a mere orna- ment on the side of a hat, again by a scintillating sort of girdle. You can do it if you only think about it, but don’t neglect your opportunities A flash of color has a psychological effect upon your day’s activities. You ecunnot afford to neglect it, and you must do it well or the result will b all higgeldy-piggelty. =! Leather for Trimming. It had its debut in Paris some years ago and was looked upon as a sort of harmless fad. But the way it has stuck is re- markable, We have hats of leather all fringed and picoted and stuck full of steel nubbins, They are beautiful because the material is so fetching and the colors so unique to that ma- terial.
