The court is the LAST STRONGHOLD OF PRIVHEGE The court has the power to declare laws “invalid.” If the supreme court says a law is “dead” it becomes dead by that deci- sion. Such a law is no longer the law of the state. All courts cease to consider it as the law. It is gone as utterly and as absolutely as if it never had been passed. * This is the tremendous power of the courts. It is a despotic " power and a tyrannous power if if is used wrong] It can be used against the PEOPLE’S LAWS AND AMEND- MENTS just as freely as against laws passed by the “legislature, It has beén used in that way in-this: state. The judges can not be ‘controlled by the people after they have taken office. The trouble with the courts is that the people have been BLIND in their selection of judges. The people have thought that if they elected EMINENT LAWYERS they would have GOOD JUDG ES. That has not been the case. EMINENT LAWYERS: too often are CORPORATION ATTORNEYS. ‘They are men trained to think of PROPERTY. FIRST and to hold human' rights and human lives SECOND IN IMPORTANCE. Judges of this sort are not likely to DO JUSTICE TO THE POOR MAN. The rich command the ABLEST LAWYERS! ‘\O.Q.Q.O.
