At last the wolf has shed the sheep s hide and shown hls own After weeks and months of fawning on the farmer in a sleek and deceltful campaign - to’ get his vote the leaders of the Democratic party have come out into the open and made a { | direct and VICIOUS ATTACK UPON LYNN J. FRAZIER, the man whom the farmers have honored with their choice for. governor—the man WHO IS GOING TO BE THE NEXT GOV-- ERNOR OF NORTH DAKOTA. Coupled with this is an assault upon the Nonpartisan League Read This and ~ which ought to be resented by every farmer in the state. Think It Over: The Grand Forks Herald on Sunday, October 29, printed an advertisement signed by “In- dependent Publicity Bureau, Bismarck, N. D.,’ are made: >in Whlch the following statements and claims - Burke Working for McArthur “The great personal and political friendship existing between John Burke and D. H. McArthur, the Democratic candidate for governor, is well known. McArthur was an appointee ‘|- of Governor Burke, and was Burke S campaign manager - in -two: campaigns. Burke, of course, is running on national issues BUT THIS DOES NOT PREVENT HIM FROM DOING ALL HE CAN QUIETLY AND IN HIS OWN EFFECTIVE WAY FOR McARTHUR.” The DEMOCRATIC SNEER at Frazier Further on in the same advertisement appears this vicious paragraph: “The Republican nominee for govemor, Mr Frazier, has lived in the state all his life, and has not, until now, en any interest in public affairs. For 25 years he has been dormant while men like - Burke and McArthur bore the brunt of the fight for progress. Now he appears a candidate for the highest state office; a man without experience in the most minor detail of state government; a man who has never stepped inside the state house until this year, and a man” who, however honest, can not be expected to know anything of the intrigues and trickery that he will, if elected ‘be called upon to detect and defeat. He has BECOME A REPUBLICAN CANDI- DATE UPON A PLATFORM WHICH IS ENTIRELY SOCIAL- ISTIC, AND IT IS EVIDENT THAT HE IS SO LITTLE VERSED IN POLITICAL KNOWLEDGE THAT HE DOES NOT PERCEIVE ‘1 - THE DIFFERENCE. The name Republican is sufficient for him to cover any dogma or theory of statecraft He is not expected to know. What will the menbers of the Nonpartisan League say to thls attack on the League and‘ - sent in Douglas H. McArthur. “HE HAS BECOME THE MERE AGENT OF THOSE WHO DO KNOW, AND WHO KNOW TOO WELL: We have in times past defeated candidates in this state because they were named by a POLITICAL MACHINE, and because we feared they would be dic- tated to and controlled by that machine. Times have changed.
