The State, ‘The result of the election for six membors of the Canal Board boing the greatest point of interest with our citizons—who are, of course,fanxious to know whether the whigs or the democrats are to control the expenditure of the nine millions of dol- lars to be appropriated for the enlargement and completion of the canals—but little comparative attentiv2 bas been paid to the election of members of the Legisiature, the Judiciary, &c. Hence, whon the telegraphic returns report the election of have 2,000 majority in Oswego. Mr. Randall (dem ) runs 300 ahoad in Cortlandt, where ho re- sides; Mr. Forsyth runs 600 ahead in Ulster, and Mr. Patterson runs largely ahead in Livingston and Chautauque, in both of which counties he has re- sided. Mr. Chatfield has been well sustained in his county of Otsego, aleo, by tho anti-renters. The Legislature, SENATE.
