The City, ELECTION OF RECORDER, SURROGATE, AND JUDGES. We have been unable to obtain the returns of the election of judicial officers—Recorder, Surrogate, Judges, &o.—for this city, although we have made every practi- cable effort to obtain the same from the office of the County Clerk. The politicians, and other persons in- terested in the election of these officers, have 60 beset the office of the Clerk, that no copy of the returns was to be obtained. If the gamblers in elections, office holders, and office seekers, could be kept away for a day or two, until copies of the returns were obtained for the press, the public would be betterserved. We hope that this evil may be corrected on future occasions. As It is, we give the returns according to the additions made in the office of the County Clerk, which, we are as- eured are correct, but for the accuracy of which we can- not vouch, believing, however, that they are correct. ‘The returns received from the various wards, for Re- corder, Surrogate, and Judge of the Superior Court, add up, a6 furnished to us, as follows (uine election districts to hear from):-— RECORDER. Tillow, (dem..),... 18,507 Tallmadge, (whig,).... 17,252 Majority for Tillow, thus far..........04 1,995 AcRROG 4 Bradford, (whig.)..17,90T Fowler, (dem ,) «17,556 Mejority for Bradford, thus far . 4a DO OF SUPERIOR COURT Bosworth, (dem..) 18,204 Mason, (whig.) The election districts to be heard from voted as follows last year, for Governor:— Whig Ist ward. ¢ Democsatio inajonity' in these districts ‘The Bhird district of the Twentieth ward, and the Second district of the Nineteenth ward, also, have not made returns, In the latter district, the ballot boxes were destroyed. Should the other election districts to be heard from have given 600 democratic majority, Mr, Fowler, the Gemooratic candidate for Surrogate, is elected. If the additions of the returns given, hewever, are correct, the tudications are im favor of the election of Mr. Bradford, the present whig incumbent of the office of Surrogate, by a very small ma- jority. When elected, three years sinoe, we believe his plurality over Mr. MeMurray, democrat, (now elected Eewstor,) was in the neighborhood of teu thousand. Lf now successful by a bare majority, Mr. Bradford owes his election to the management of one of the individuals most active in getting up the Union Safesy State ticket, who came out in bis ‘aver i morning paper; also to the very general 1 —s he received among the lawyers. The majority of Mr. Bosworth, (demoorat.) for Judge of the Superior Court, will be about 1.200 Maron, ove of the prerent whig incumbents.
