ki‘ b2 HISTORY AND GROWTH of THE BIG STORE The Big Store was established in 1910. by Louis R. Raphael, in a small space 1,800 feet square. e | In the fall of 1911, the business demanded additional space and 2,000 square feet were added making a total of 3,800 square feet. In the fall of 1914, again additional space was required. Mr. Raphael procured the Bijou Theater adjoin- ing the store with a space of 5,000 squars fect, making a total of 8.8(0 square feet. Later the growth of the business demanded adcitional space and an addition vcas buiiv of 200 feet in length by 40 feet in width. making a total of 16,- 800 :square feet of selling space. In 1919 the whole store was remodeled at a big expense with new and modern fixturcs, also attractive show windows were installed, making this store the largest Daylight one- floor Viepartment Store in the state. Today we are equipped as never be- fore to handle the vast numbers that visit our store, and Buying for cash, Selling for cash. No charge accounts, No deliveries, makes possible the eliminating of big overhead and selling lower than elsewherc.
