GOV, BRIDGES 1S WORLD WAR HERO Bridges in Charge of South Rustralia London, Oct. 6.—Major-General |Sir George Molesworth Bridges has |been appointed governor. of South Australia, succeeding Lieut. Col. Sir| Wiiliam Weigell. The latter resigned |the position because he said he could |not live on his salary and had not |sufficient private means to afford the| {luxury of maintaining such a position. His successor, Sir George, is known in the British army as the ‘“Toy Drum Hero.” That term has not been applied to him in derision, but in recognition of a memorable cident of the war in which he played” great gallantry.
