One of the popular hotels in this part of the state is the Northern Ho- tel, very conveniently located, and owned and managed by W. J. The Picture Above isof the Large and Fine . Coffron built his large and-commodi- ous hotel last year. It includes all of the frontage shown in the picture, 86 feet, and contains thirty rooms nicely furnished. The hotel is but little more than 100 feet from the depot of the Eastern Minnesota railway, and about 125 feet from the Itasca logging railway depot. The Eastern Minne- sota depot is directly in front of the hotel. Notwithstanding the great opportu- nity for stock-raising no meat except- ing game is brought to the local mar- ket in Deer River from the surround- ing country. Meat, eggs and butter are brought in by railroad. Eggs are never lower than fifteen cents per doz- en, and good butter always brings twenty-five cents or more per pound. Promiiment Citizens. P. R.
