3w Mock War Leaders Amazed at Speed Of 'Red’ Army ' Troops Press On As Enemy ‘Blues’ Seek to Form Defense By the Associated Press. LEESVILLE, La, May 10—Still amazed at the speed of their own divisions, commanders of the Red Army of Texas sought today to drive an irresistible wedge toward Alex- andria, La,, in mock war games. The immediate problem was to push as near the city as possible before the enemy Blues could gather up their slowly forming forces for the organization of a defense line. Once the Blues of Louisiana—the 4th Corps — present their full of 45000 men, probably |« within 38 hours, the battle will be oonverted into a dog fight. The Red Army—the 9th Corps— totaling 25,000 troops, sped its com-~ Batants across the Sabine River, td.h: boundary line, at dawn yester- With dazzling speed the first cav- alry division moved toward Lees- ville, on a straight line for Alex- andria, and reached the town, 15 miles away, in little more than a couple of hours. -But the day's greatest feat was that performed by a special unit of the second division, commanded by Brig. Gen. Joseph W. Stilwell. The World War veteran drove his 5,000 men, including infantry and field artillery regiments, 70 miles by mid- afternoon. They advanced as far as Natchitoches but were forced to| withdraw 15 miles to near Robeline. Future action was not expected to be so0 precipitate. Besides, the Army planned this little affair to last until May 25, and that's how long it will last. Service Orders ARMY.
