Monday the Minister will be the honor guest and speaker at the luncheon which will be given by the Boston Chamber of Commerce. While there the Minister and Mme. Procope will be guests,of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sumner Bird at East Walpole, near Boston. The Bulgarian Minister and Mme. Naoumoff entertained at dinner last evening in honor of the Greek Minister and Mme. Diamantopoulos. Berle, jr., have issued invitations for a garden party next Wednesday afternoon in honor of the delegates to the eighth American Scientific Congress. Y., snnounce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Barbara Lewis White | to Ensign John L. Erickson, son of Mr. David L. Erickson of Lincoln, Nebr,, and the late Mrs. Erickson. Miss White is the granddaugher of Mrs. Lewis D. Pace and the late Mr. Pace of Atlanta, Ga. and Wash- ington. Her maternal great grand- father was Samuel Field Phillips, solicitor general of the United States. She is also descended from the War- ren Hall Lewis family of Virginia. On her father’s side, she is the granddaughter of Mrs. Frank Hollis ‘White of Washington, and the late Mr. White, and great granddaughter of Brig. Gen. Queen Tonight The Soutl*Carolina Society’s May queen will be crowned by Mr. Harry Slattery, administrator of the Rural Electrification Administration to- night at 9:30, according to Mr. Charles E. Jackson, acting commis- sioner of Interior Department’s Bu- reau of Fisheries, who is chairman of the Committee on Selections. The society is giving a dance and supper at the Shoreham Hotel. The queen will be selected by popular acclaim from among six girls previously chosen by Mr. Jackson and his committee. All members of the South Carolina Juniors will be inducted into the society tonight. This will bring 25 sons and daughters of South Car- olina families, now living in Wash- ington, as new members.
