Spending Program Defended, Assailed In Forum Debate Senators Mead and - Townsend Lead Opposing Sides The Government spending -pro- gram was staunchly defeaded and vigorously attacked last night as New Deal supporters and Repub- lican eritics tangled in debate on the American Forum of the Air, broadcast from the Willard Hotel by station WOL.
