Olose. 9% +1% Stocks and Dividends, Predicts That 3,600,000 Metrio Tons Will Not Be Needed. By the Associated Press. ROME, Oct. 30.—A world wheat ex- port surplus of 38,600,000 metric tons (about 132,100,000 bushels) from the - 1937 crop was forecast today by the Institute of Agriculture. This estimate did not include the - Russian and Chinese crops. The Rus- sian is said to be large; the Chinese poor. Added to the estimated export sur- . plus are 2,900,000 metric tons remain- “ing from previous surpluses. Probable requirements of importing countries, the institute said, would be 14,500,000 metric tons. The quantity available for export from exporting countries from the 1937 crops was .put at 18,100,000 tons, leaving & 3,- 600,000-ton surplus. . World production exclusive of Rus- sia and China was estimated to be 9 per cent higher than in 1936, due chiefly to increased production in the United States. (A metric ton, 2204 pounds, amounts to 36.7 bushels of wheat.) JUMP SEEN IN SALES OF OFFICE FURNITURE By the Associated Press.
