Epseial Dispatch to The Star. FAIRFAX, Va, October 9.—Build- ing permits in the aggregate of $158,- 400 were issued in Fairfax County during the past month, according to report by County Commissioner of the Revenue James U. Kincheloe. This marks the second highest total for a single month in the last two years. Of the permits issued in September 4149700 covered new construction work and $8,700 improvements to bufldings. Altogether 48 permits were fssued, with one for a $10.000 dwelling and one for a $15000 house. The majority of others ranged from $3,000 to $5,000. For the first nine months of 1937 | the volume of permits has increased | by $460.304 over the same period in 1936, This year permits total §1,037,- 375, while for 1936 the total was $577,071. Real estate transfers slumped some- what during the month, the report of County Clerk John M. Whalen shows. There were 320 recordations during the month, bringing the total for the | first nine months of the year to 3.261.
