Va.,, March 25. —A jury acquitted Charles Baldwin, 41-year-old former Army captain, last night of the slaying of his wealthy mother, Mrs. Juliette Buffington Bald- | win Enslow. The jury deliberated approximately two hours, climaxing the nine-day trial. Spectators cheered the verdict. Judge H. Clay Warth, in his instruc- tions, told the jurors that unless they voluntary manslaughter; involuntary manslaughter and acquittal. Co-prosecutors Lucien Blankenship and George S. Wallace, said they be- lieved Baldwin killed his 63-year-old mother in her mansion to get a supply of narcotics. The widow was a daughter of Hunt- ington’s first mayor. Reybold, director of a success- ful flood fight against unprecedented Mississippi River stages this year, will have charge of both the new division and the Memphis district until Maj. Noce reports for duty at Memphis July 10. Maj.
