SOCIETY. Mrs. Wahl Entertains At Woodside Dr. Schulze Will Be Host at Dinner This Evening. RS. RICHARD WAHL of Woodside, Md., entertained at an attractively arranged luncheon and bridge party Tuesday at the Manor Club. The guests included Mrs. Karl E. Jarrell, Mrs. John W. Ballard and Mrs. How- ard P. Bailey of Wynnewood Park; Mrs.’ J. Russell McQueen, Mrs. Hal- sey D. Rogers and Mrs. Hermann E. Hobbs of Linden, Md.; Mrs. E. E. Boyner of Indian Spring Terrace, Md.; Mrs. J. G. Pratt of North Woodside, Md.; Mrs. L. M. Christie, Mrs. Joseph R. Grifin, Mrs. Henry J. Mehserle, Mrs. Graham Hartley Woolfall of ‘Woodside and Mrs. Louis T. Rouleau, Mrs. J. Howell Forsyth and Mrs. Mar- shall Gibbs of Silver Spring. Dr. Gustave H. Schulze, jr, of ‘Wynnewood Park will be host at din- ner this evening, entertaining Mr. and Mrs. William Miller, Miss Hazel Miller, Miss Helen Dolan and Mr. Edward Lucas. Miss Lavinia Engle of Forest Glen, who is assistant director of education in the Social Security Bureau, left Tuesday for the Middle West where the will make a number of addresses before women's groups in Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and Kentucky, She plans to return here November 1. Miss Nancy Kelley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wililam J. Kelley, gave a party Friday night. The guests were Miss Betty Porter, Miss Katherine Wadley, Miss Mgrgaret Mitchell, Miss Lucille Hendrick, Miss Mary Margaret Perry, Miss Emily Keele, Miss Jean ‘Waechter, Mr. James Hutt, Mr. James Littlefield, Mr, Edmund Chandler, Mr. Robert Arentson, Mr. Charles Fried- rich, Mr. John Holloway, Mr. Vernon Kummel and Mr. Willilam Perry. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel K. Wade of Wynnewood Park sailed yesterday from New York for a 10-day cruise to Nassau and Havana £ Mrs. James H. Cissel of Silver Bpring entertained at luncheon and cards Tuesday at Brooke Tea House. Mrs. Walter Brown won the prize for high score. Mrs. Carl Voght was hostess at bridge Thursday evening. Miss Mary Margaret Perry, daughter ©of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Perry of Silver Spring, entertained at a skating party at the rink last evening. Mrs. Charles Zeller and Mrs. An- toinette McKeever entertained at din- ner Wednesday evening in honor of Mrs. W. Edwin Warfield. The guests ‘were Mrs. George Harmon, Miss Hat- tie Montgomery, Mrs. Blanche Ben- son, Mrs. Carl Lines, Mrs. Walter Crossan, Miss Eugenia Hardy, Miss C. Mabel Smith and the Misses Linthicum. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Prichard moved yesterday into their new home at 1213 Garfield street in Woodside. Mrs. Prichard, before her marriage in Sep- tember, was Miss Dorothy Dolan of ‘Woodside Park. Mrs. Robert Bains of Silver Spring was hostess at luncheon and bridge Friday. 4 Mrs. 8. J. Solomon, Mrs. Ralph Wells and Mrs. Eben Whitcomb re- turned to their homes in Seven Gaks Manor the early part of this week from Boston, where they went by air- plane the Friday before. Mrs. O. L. Sanford of Westmore- land County, Va., is passing two weeks in Silver Spring, visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Sanford. Mrs. Joseph C. Cissel entertained at Bridge Friday evening in honor of Mrs. Clint Harter of New York, who was her guest for a week. Miss Nellie Hewitt, who is a stu- dent at St. Joseph's College, Emmitts- burg, Md., spent the early part of the week with her parents, Capt. and Mrs. Frank L. Hewitt, at Silver Spring. Mrs. Marion 8. Alley entertained at bridge Thursday evening at her home in North Woodside. The guests were Mrs. Donald Heizer, Mrs. Frank Proctor, Mrs. Robert Benner, Mrs. John Thompson, Mrs. John B. Reve, Miss Helen Willard and Miss Virginia Halloween Party Planned at Club Halloween will be celebrated by the Newspaper Women's Club and tieir friends at their headquarters, 1840 Rhode Island avenue, Saturday eve- ning, October 31. Typical festivities in keeping with the spirit of Halloween will take place in the course of the evening. Two well-known fortune tellers will be on hand to peer into the future for those who desire it. There will also be bob- bing for apples, dancing, toasting marshmallows over the open fireplaces at the club, and other features. In addition to the orchestra there will be the newest Capehart, being intro- duced to the club by Mrs. Callie Hagner Shaw. Although the donning of fancy dress is not obligatory, many of the guests have expressed the intention of dressing in tacky attire, for which there will be prizes for the most outstanding ones. Mrs. Hope Ridings Miller, chairman of the Entertalnment Committee, is arranging the party, assistsd by Mrs. Ned Brunson Harris, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Lillian Arthur, chair- man of the House Committee, and Miss Katharine Brooks and Mrs, Mary Allen.
