By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, October 15.—Bonds moved unevenly today, with most swings held to minor fractions. Activity again centered in the rail section, where there appeared to be & few more galns than losses. Baltimore & Ohio 4!:s of 1960 and New York Central 5s of 2013 reflected the effect on trading senti- ment of the reported break between managements of the two roads over the former's connection with a large | trucking concern. Baltimore & Ohio 41%s dropped more than 1'; points and Central 5s dipped nearly i Other carrier issues held to narrow ranges. Several Canadian utility bonds moved forward briskly, with Interna- tional Hydro-Electric 6s adding nearly 3 points and International Paper 58 moving up & half or so. Abitibi 8s, however, reacted nearly a point. Penn Dixie Cement 6s lost more than & point. U. B. Government obligations were uneven, although the majority were up with gains to about 5-32 of a point. Recovery of Polish issues for gains to about 22 points colored a quiet foreign | list. NEW YORK, October 15.—Textile mill activity during the first eight months of 1936 was 16 per cent above that for the same period of 1935, ac- cording to the Textile World Analyst in the October issue. “As demand, and consequently pro- duction, are continuing at & high rate, the total for this year is sure to be well above last year. “Mill activity in August alone—the last month for which full statistics are available at this writing—was 34 per cent above that of the 1924-1931 average for this month. Along with this continued increase in production has been a steady improvement in manufacturing margins, and therefore in profit possibilities. “Although most prices rose slightly in September, the movement was not sufficlent to cause any change in Textile World's price index numbers, and, with the exception of raw silk, which Jost 1 point, August figures were duplicated all along the line.” PLATINUM PROFITS SOAR.
