The American Commonwealth Fed- eration, which seeks a “permanent alignment of all the Farmer-Labor and progressive forces” yesterday urged re-election of President Roose- velt. Acton, 35, was charged with murder today in the death of Donald E. Mersch, 29, who died in Emergency Hospital Tuesday night from two-bullet wounds received Octo~ ber 4 in an argument over money. Acton, who previously had been held on & charge of assault Wwith in-' tent to kill, is in District Jail in de- fault of $10,000 bond. He pleaded not guilty in Police Court. The argu- ment. is said to have occurred near Eleventh and E streets southwest. Jesse E. Jones, 18, and Bela A. Stramer, 23, arrested with Acton the night of the shooting, are being held as witnesses. Mersch was shot in thel chest and left shoulder.
