EVERLY, Mass., October 10— Debutante affairs reached their peak this week with a round of entertaining along the North Shore for the young women who are being presented to society this year. Mr. Keith Merrill of the Depart- ment of State and Mrs. Merrill gave a dance Thursday night at Avalon, their lovely home in the Paine re- serve at Prides Crossing, to present their debutante niece, Miss Anne Ayer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Ayer of Ledyard Farm, Hamilton, to North Shore society. Dr. Lloyd is a medical director of the United States Public Health Serv- ice and has been stationed in Wash- ington for several years as assistant director of the Pan-American Sanitary Bureau. Miss Alice Buell Completes Plans For Her Wedding F INTEREST is the approaching marriage of Miss Alice Hyde Buell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hyde Buell of Herndon, Va., to Mr. Victor Hammond Knoop, son of Mr. and Mrs. Prederick Knoop of Washington, D. C. The wedding will take place PFriday, October 2, in the Herndon Congrega- tional Church, the Rev. Richard Sholl officiating, at 9 o’clock in the evening. A reception will follow in the home of the bride's parents. The bride-elect, who will be given in marriage by her father, will have as her matrons of honor her sisters, Mrs. Edmund H.
