REPAIRS ARESPED " INU.S. BUILDINGS? Capitol, Senate and House Office Units to Be Air Conditioned. David Lynn, architect of the Capitol, §s making strenuous efforts to get the Capitol and Senate and House Office Buildings in shape for Congress to get to work in January. These buildings have been torn up this Summer, with holes being made in walls and floors ot all offices, corridors and other spaces for the air-conditioning service suthorized by with an ap- Ppropriation of $2,500,000. Then when the bids were opened it was found the appropriation was not large enough. So Architect Lynn has been forced to ake progress as best he can and to prepare revised specifications for new bids in an effort to solve his dilemma. He will be ready to call for new bids in about 10 days. These have been revised by omitting air conditioning of certain sections which are not used for office p ch as rooms on the Capitol terrace section, subbase- ment of the Old Office Building and rooms on the fifth floor, and the book in the attic of the Capitol Build- . ‘These new bids will also include (nsulation of certain ducts. As an emergency job Lynn had to Bake over with his own forcé and wunder day labor put in sheet metal ducts, which had been included in in shape for occupancy by members. This work now is progressing satis- Sactorily. The large main ducts, however, in the basement and attic of the Senate and House Office Buildings, will be ncluded in the new bids. e COURT ORDER FAVORS WIDOW OF COL.
