Hibbs & Co. and father of the late Edward Kane, nationally known prize fight manager, died Wednesday night at Wayne, Pa., where he had been visiting his sister, Mrs. Anne Duffy. Mr. Kane, who lived at 501 Eleventh street, had been suffering from heart trouble. A telegraph operator as a youth, Mr. Kane went to New Mexico for his health when only 20. Later he worked | in Chicago for various press asso= ciations. He became interested in finance, came to Washington and rose rapidly in the financial district. He was cus- tomers’ man for Hibbs & Co. at the time of his death. His son managed Tommy Gibbons when the latter fought Jack Demp- sey at Shelby, Mont., and also handled the affairs of Sammy Mandell, for- mer lightweight champion. Ellis, 53, acting president cf the Annapolis Banking & Trust Co., will be held tomorrow at his late home at North Linthicum. Burial will be in the Druid Ridge Cemetery, Baltimore. Ellis, who died at his home yes- terday, was secretary-treasurer of the Annapolis Metropolitan Sewerage Commission; president of the Anne Arundel County Sanitary Commission, and a member of the Efficiency and Economy Committee of the county. He was born in Baltimore, but had lived in Anne Arundel County for 14 years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Louis . Lohrmann Ellis, and a son, Harry George Ellis. RITES FOR COL.
