U. S. ART PROJECT EXHIBIT TO OPEN Index of American Design Pre- lenh Drawings of Period Objects. An exhibition of the Index of Amer- #can Design, compiled by workers of the Federal Art Project, Works Prog- ress Administration, will be held at the National Museum July 6 through August 6, it was announced today by Holger Cahill, director of the art project. About 175 drawings and photo- graphs of furniture, costumes, jewelry, silver, ceramics, glass, interior archi- tectural detail and other objects of decorative and applied art of the pe- riod between 1620 and 1890 will be displayed. They will represent the work of 50 W. P. A. artists. “The purpose of the Index of Amer~ ican Design,” it was explained, “is to compile by means of accurate black and white colored drawings and photographs & pictorial record of native THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, D. Many Européan countries have made such compilations of their own art. “In addition to assembling the origi- nal material, much of which is in danger of being lost, the Federal Art Project will publish folios of litho- graphic prints which will be dis- tributed to educational institutions. ‘The material offers a field for new re- search to artists, designers - and others.” In addition to the District, the fol- lowed States are represented in the exhibition: New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Louisiana, Mich- igan, Illinois, New Mexico, California and the New England States. —— Hunch on Twins Right. TUBERCULAR CHILDREN GO TO SUMMER CAMP 50 Infected in Curable Stage Are Given Complete Medical Examinations. Fifty tubercular children todsy were enjoying their first full day at the Tuberculosis Association’s new Sum- mruclmp, Thirteenth and Allison streets. Chosen from a long Nst diagnosed as being infected in curable stage, the boys and girls were registered at the camp yesterday and given complete medical examinations by the cam$ physicians under supervision of Mrs, Margaret Craig Marsh, superintendent. Each child’s name was inscribed on a large health chart, and a record of the physical progress will be kept throughout the stay at camp. ‘The camp is established in the Alli- son Health School building which has been lpaned by the Board of Educa- tion without charge. The administra~ tion building is used by the colored patients for sleeping quarters, and the tents are used by the camp nurses and counselors. —— PLAN CHURCH CARNIVAL A street parade to the Brightwood and Petworth district will open the | seventeenth annual 8t. Gabriel's Church Carnival next Monday, it was announced today by Thomas A. Mc- Namara, in charge of arrangements.
