In the Hunt Country ‘Activities Among the Horse-Lovers of Virginia and Maryland. BY NINA CARTER TABB. \WO good riders of Maryland and Virginia caused much interset as they rode against each other at the recent horse show held at Bradley Farms, Maryland. They were Miss Margaret Hill of Mary- land, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wil- liam Hill, and Miss Ann Clay Bayly of Virginia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Bayly. Margaret Hill won the good hands class, with Ann Bayly second and Ann won the children’s riding competition, with Margareet second. They each won several blues in| different classes of the show. Horse | show veterans looked on in admira- tion at the riding of these two young ladies. * Xk X X Every one in this part of Virginia has- begun talking of and making plans to spend August at Saratoga for the racing season and some of | them have taken houses for the| month. Mr. and Mrs. Clayburg of | the King ranch, Texas (the largest | privately-owned piece of property in | the world), have taken a house at| Saratoga. Mason of Lexington, Ky., well known in Washington and Virginia, where she often visits, owns a good string of race horses. One of her most promising is a fllly, Rose of Richmond, which will be raced at Saratoga. Mrs. Mason is at Saratoga now, visiting Mrs. Stuart Don. Mrs. Harry Bangs of New York and Middle- burg, Va., will join Mrs. Mason in Washington next week and go with her to Lexington. Mrs. Mason’s white garden at Dunreath is one of the show gardens of Kentucky. Her hus- band, the late Silas B. Mason, was the largest land owner in Kentucky at the time of his death, in April, at Coulee Dam. Miss Cynthia Bangs of Middleburg left today for Tehee Lodge, Big Horn, Wyo., to visit Mr. and Mrs. Allen Fordyce of St. Louis. Mr. Fordyce owns a cattle ranch in Montana, which Miss Bangs will visit before returning East. In August she will go to Saratoga as the guest of George Bull, president of the Saratoga Racing Association.
