A fairly broad demand asserted itself in the early | trading, providing gains ranging from | fractions to 11: points in a long list of secondary ratings. Other groups also appeared to feel a freshened buying interest by rea- son of yesterday’s decline from the | high levels established in the fore- noon. In general, however, price| movements were narrow, with trading in slightly reduced volume. The best acting rails included Bal- | timore & Ohio 4!:s at 59, up 1%: Southern Railway 4s at 5072, up 114; Nickel Plate 4!>s at 6675, up 1° and New York Central 5s at 77%, up 1. United States Governments showed negligible activity and virtually no| change in values as the market con- tinued to await the Treasury’s an- nouncement on December financing. CHICAGO, November 27.—Produc- tion and sales tonnage of packing house products at inspected slaughter- ing establishments in the United States increased more than seasonally during October, the Seventh Federal Reserve Bank reported. Production rose 29 per cent above the September level, but fell 13!2 per cent short of the commercial produc- tion during October, 1934. Sales ton- nage increased over September and continued to exceed current produc- tion, but was still 13} per cent below the same period last year. Sales tonnage of creamery butter increased 14 per cent over September, while production declined 14 per cent, the report said. The sales tonnage showed a range of 16 per cent above the 1925-34 average. Production of clined in October, but was still 311, per cent larger than a year ago.
