NEW YORK, October 22.—The nm 88 corporations reporting earnings for f the third quarter of 1935 show a gain of 187 per cent over the like quarter of 1934, a tabulation by the Associated Press today showed. For the entire first nine months of the year, 93 corporations reporting showed a gain over the like period of last year of 233 per cent. The total net earnings reported by 88 corporations for the third quarter was $102,692,844, compared with $86,- 546,263 in the like period of last year. For the first nine months, the total | Y, of 93 was $299,007,141, compared with $242,502,432. Of the 88 corporations for which earnings are available for the third quarter, 59 showed gains over 1934, and 29 earned less than in the third quarter of last year. Of the 93 for which figures are available for the first nine months, 63 showed gains and 30 declines, Ten companies reported deficits for the third quarter, against 18 showing deficits in that period of 1934. Relatively larger gains over 1934 were shown by steel, electrical equip- ment, auto accessory, building equip- ment and container manufacturers. Those showing smaller earnings than in 1934 were chiefly oils, foods and mining companies. Reports issued today included: Standard Cap & Seal.
