Patterson, 61, of 149 R street, retired navy yard machinist, ied of a heart attack at his home Sunday afternoon. Mr. Patterson had been ill since last Thursday, when he was stricken with an attack. A native of Washington, Mr. Patter- son had been employed at the navy yard for 39 years. He was retired in May, 1934, as a first-class machinist. He was one of the oldest employes there from point of service. Mr. Patterson is survived by his widow, the former Lula A. Smith of Hagerstown, Md., and 10 children, Alice, Mildred, Lula, Estelle, Cecella, Virginia, Harry, Louis, Russell and Edward Patterson. He is survived also by two brothers, Harry F. and Arthur Patterson, and a sister, Mrs. Lena Purcell. Funeral services will be held to- morrow at 11 am. at the residence. CONNALLY'S WIFE EXPIRES SUDDENLY Stricken in Office of Senator on Eve of Return to Texas. Flooded with messages of sympathy, Senator Tom Connally of Texas was preparing to leave Washington tonight for his home with the body of Mrs. Louise Clarkson Connally, his wife, who died suddenly yesterday. Mrs. Connally was in the Senate Office Building late yesterday when she was stricken with a heart attack. Assisted from the elevator to her hus- band's office, she lived only long enough for her husband to get to her side. A few minutes later, she clasped his hand, smiled and died. A native of Marlin, Tex., Mrs. Con- nally was 54 years old. She and the pressnt junior Senator from that State were marired in 1904, when he was & member of the Texas Legisla- ture. They came to Washington first when he was elected a member of the House of Representatives in the Sixty-fifth Congress. The Senator is now in his second term in the upper body. Recently, Senator and Mrs. Con- nally had made their Washington home at California street and Con- necticut avenue. Yesterday morning Mrs. Connally had finished packing preparatory to their departure for Marlin. Mrs. Connally was a talented mu- sician and was one of the popular members of the congressional set. Expressions of sympathy and sorrow poured into their home and the office of the Senator as soon as word of Mrs. Connally's death was heard.
