THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, D. C, THURSDAY, JULY 25, 1935. WooDWARD & LLOTHROP A Store is More Than Just a Store IT IS PART OF THE LIVES AND HOPES OF PEOPLE Few people, we believe, see or feel the genuine spirit of A Store that is established to render real service to the public and the community. A Store is a universally human, appealing, living thing. In this picture, the first of a series of 12, the famous artist, M. Leone Bracker, has illustrated graphically the human side of This—Your Store. You will see this poster on display throughout the store. Mr. Bracker, the artist, created during the World War, many posters for the Government. His “Keep *em Smiling” was the most widely printed poster of the war. Another, entitled ““Behold Your Enemy,” in the early days of the war, won the Government prize for Black and White posters. Mr. Bracker created America’s National Peace Poster for the Geneva Conference. His posters hang in the collections of the late King Albert of Belgium, and of the Emperor of Japan. His “Ten Commandments” have been distributed all over the world. His series of Washington, for the B. & O. Railroad, is widely known. His background, then, well equips him to do this series for us. We see a mother buying for her family—the hopes and joys of youth as typified by the boy, and the children of the family group—the love and ambition of young couples planning for their babies, to make: dreams come true—and of old couples, now in safe harbor, but who find happiness in providing for the new generation. This, we think is the real human story of A Store Worthy of the Nation's Capital— Your Store. ~+
