A convicted forger is more likely to go straight after his release from pnsnn than is a robber or burglar. “That at least is our experience,” gaid Ray L. Huff, parole executive of the United States Bureau of Prisons In an interview today. This conclusion is but one of a num- ber reached by Huff and a research staff in an analysis of 8,700 cases which have come before the Parole Board. The final results of the study, known as “experience tables,” will be made known shortly. “A good wife and children always make the applicant for parole a fa- vorable risk,” Huff sald. He added that the opposite is true if members of the family are criminally inclined. “Experience shows that a man over 45 is also apt to be a good risk,” he said, “in most cases they have burned | N Table Rock Blasted Into Niagara River By Two Final Shots By the Associated Press. By the Assoclated Press. Government lawyers today [redicted a Supreme Court ruling on the con- stitutionality of the agricultural ad- justment act by Christmas. More than 153 cases challenging the processing tax levied by the A. A. A. are in the Federal courts, they said. ‘With nearly a billion dollars involved, the Government defense is being di- rected by two lawyers from Florida, Assistant Attorney General Frank J. ‘Wideman, head of the Justice Depart- ment Tax Division, and his chief as- sistant, James W. Morris. Known as “Mutt and Jeft.” They are known as “the Mutt and Jeff” of the Justice Department. Wideman is 6 feet 4 inches tall, with rugged frame and features. Morris, his close friend, is 5 feet 8 inches. Both are a few years past 40 and formerly served as State attorneys, Wideman is unperturbed by the fact that every day increases the number of processing tax suits. He sald three already filed should decide constitu- tionality. He said an action by the Hoosac Mills of New Bedford, Mass., for $81,- 690 in cotton taxes already has been decided for the Government in a Fed- eral district court and argued in the Boston Circuit Court of Appeals. A decision is expected within a month. Prompt Appeal Forecast. It will be appealed promptly to the Supreme Court, he said, and may be joined with two suits pending in the Court of Clalms. These are refund claims by the Interlachen Mills of Providence, R. 1, and Continenial Mills of Philadelphia, Pa. Justice Department officials say So- licitor General Stanley Reed and Wideman will argue the “billion dol- lar” test case in the Supreme Court. It is the first test of the New Deal’s tax laws. Wideman already has argued 11 cases for the Government before the Supreme Court, winning 10. The tall lawyer is the first Florida man in the “little cabinet.” AUTO RADIO' Installations—Repairs MIllEB-DlJI)l[m ST.NW.
