NEW MINISTER T0BEPRESENTED Rev. J. S. Loughran to Be| Introduced at Dinner Meeting. The welfare of the Cleveland Park | Congregational Church and its rela- tion to the community will be dis- cussed at a dinner meeting next Thursday at 6:30 o'clock when Rev. Joseph S. Loughran, the new pastor, will be introduced. Dr. John R. Scots- ford of New York, secretary of the Home Missicns Board of Congrega- | tional Churches, will make the prin- cipal address. Rev. Walter Spooner, | superintendent of the Middie Atlantic Conference, will make a brief address. Rev. Mr. Loughran, who has just | essumed the pastorate, came here | from New York, where he took a post- uate course at the Union Theo- logical Seminary. He studied for some | time at the University of Freiburg. | Germany, and was for one year at Oxford University. He served as a chaplain in the Army during the ‘World War. In connection with a program for | the expansion of the church activities, Rev. Mr. Loughran said: “While it is | not the desire of the Cleveland Park Church to entice any one from his established church connection, it is the desire to serve as the home of benevolence and worship for all those who are ot now active church mem- bers elsewhere, regardless of denomi- nation. That is, it is the desire of the church to be a true community church. Music composed by the late Edgar Priest, organist and choirmaster at Washington Cathedral from 1912 until his death, a few weeks ago, will be sung in his memory at the evensong service in the Great Choir tomorrow at 4 o'clock. Bishop James E. Free- man and his colleagues are following the custom of English cathedrals in having the memorial tribute to a master musician expressed through his own creative art.. ‘The memorial musical program will open with the processional hymn, “Praise We the Holy Ghost.” with words by the late Bishop Alfred Hard- ing. Friends of Mr. Priest, former members of the Cathedral choir and others interested in sacred music are cordially invited to attend this service.
