Gov- ernments firmed today, but in the corporate section of the bond market trends continued divergent. Specialists in the Federal securities said there had been no new de- velopments to influence trading sen- timent. Nevertheless most of the Treasury loans and the Home Owners Loan series moved up to gains of i point or & little less. This was in contrast with a relatively heavy tone in previous sessions. A considerable number of the sec- ondary rails were disposed to con- tinue their reaction, as losses of frac- tions to a point were liberally sprin- kled through the list. Certain of the utilities were heavy, but the movement here was no worse than irregular. Some of the corporate issues of prime rating were offered at prices a little under yesterday's finals, but the general position of liens of this character was not changed in any essential way. Some ground was lost by American & Foreign Power 5s, American Tele- phone 5s, Baltimore & Ohio 4!%s, Erie 5s. Missouri Pacific 5s, Nickel Plate 415s, Frisco 4'ss, Southern Pacific 4!2s and United Drug 5. There was firmness in the action of Columbia Gas & Electric 5s, Great Northern 4!2s, International Tele- phone 5s, Pacific Gas & Electric 5s and Standard Oil of New York 412s. Chicago Grain.
