HARPERS FERRY, W. Va. April 19.—Richard R. McMahon, 75, who served as Solicitor in the Treasury Department under Andrew W. Mellon, died at his home today. Death was caused by a heart attack. McMahon, a retired Washington at- torney, at onc time taught rhetoric at Georgetown University. He was a trustee of Columbia Hospital, Wash- ington. McMahon was born at Alexandria, Va. His widow and a brother sur- vive. Richard "Randolph McMahon, who died in Harpers Ferry today was well known in Washington some 10 years 0. He was a personal friend of the late Chief Justice Taft, Elihu Root, President Harding and dignitaries of many lands. For two years he served as solicitor of the Treasury Department—from 1922 to 1924—when this office was also attached to the Department of Justice. In this capacity he came in close touch with many of the leading lawyers of the United States. He was active member of the American Bar Association. | _ Always interested in education, Mr. McMahon, when he went back to West Virginia, was made a member{ of the board of regents of the State university. A life long resident of Virginia, his early life was spent in farming. Mr, Follin had been an under- taker since 1919, first at Vienna, Va., and later at Falls Church.
