Bunker | Hill & Sullivan recorded a similar gain Issues gaining oint_or more in- cluded American Gas & Electric, Pitts- burgh Plate Glass, Lake Shore Mines, Sherwin Williams and Parker Rust Proof. Deere & Co., unaffected by the sharp ! advance in_wheat prices, closed un- changed. Aluminum Co. of America and Swift & Co. dipped slightly while Electric Bond & Share was a soft spot among utilities A point loss in Humble Oil was offset | by a similar advance in Standard Oil | of Ohio. June 24 —Mon- day, July 3, having been declared a legal holiday by the Governor of Marv- land and the Fourth being a legal holi- day and both being largely observed b3 the trade in general, shippers are ad- vised not to ship any perishable goods to arrive on these davs. as, with prac- tically no outlet, arrivals would likely be a total loss. This applies particu- larly to live poultry. which, through lack of attention, would probablv be dead when the market reopened Wed- nesday morning. and berries, whicn #poil quickly in hot weather The egg market has taken on a de- cidedly better tone the past week. and| values show an advance of a cent and | a half to 2 cents over last week's quo- | tations. Very little trading on the ex- change, however, due to the fact of dealers’ demands being largely for hen- nerjes and graded candled stock: and, With hot weather prevailing. buyers are very critical as to quality. The market closed today at 17 and 18 cents a dozen for hennery whites 55 pounds and up. 15 to 16 for firsts and 13 to 13!z for aurrent receipts. Poultry Market. The live poultry market continues steady, with little change from last week, but with the three day week end holiday demand will show an improve- ment_the latter part of the week, es- pecially for large, fat frying chickens, and values are expected to show an ad- vance. Spring chickens, 2!, pounds and over, selling 19 to 22 cents a pound. with Plymouth Rocks bringing top prices and 1'; tq 2!z pounders 15 to 20, but Leghorns not so desirable and generally slow sale at 14 to 17, while stock under 1! pounds is not wanted and of irregular value. Demand for old hens holds good and centered mostly on stock weighing 3! pounds and over at 10 to 13, but Leghorns will not bring over 10. and all poor, light fowl, as well as old roosters, slow to move out at 6 to 8. All heavy fat young ducks, 4 pounds and over, selling at 9 to 14, and poor, think stock, as well as old ducks, generally neglected at 7and 8 Pigeons. steady and unchanged at 10 to 15 a pair, for both young and old. Potato Prices. Season for old potatoes practically| over and only new stock attracting at-| tention at 3.75 to 4.25 per barrel and 1.75 to 2.25 for No. 2s, but it takes well graded U. 8. No. Is to bring top prices. Sweet potatoes and yams| moving better and values are well| maintained at 50 to 1.00 per bushel for the former and 65 to 90 for the latter.
