The Salvation Army took care of 3,537 homeless persons last month, ac- cording to a report made yesterday to the Community Chest by Maj. James Asher, divisional commander of the organization. A tabulation of the cases showed that 2,335 homeless white men were lodged at 479 C street; 1,127 cclored men were given shelter at 2011 Georgia avenue, while 75 women and children were cared for at the Salvation Army's emergency home at 622 Fifth street. In the group accommodated at the white emergency lodge, 303 were under 21 years of age and 730 more under 31. Through the new case work methods applied to these men, emplcyment was found for 42 during the month.
