FINANCIAL N. Y. CURB MARKET ||CRUDE OIL OUTPUT Received by Private Wire' Direet to The Star Office. CURB SHARES SAG AFTER EARLY GAIN; Market Settles Back to Clos- ing Prices of Yesterday. Trading Small. BY JOHN A. CRONE. Bpecial Dispatch to The Star. i NEW YORK, March 29.—The T Exchange, after rallying slightly in th first hour, sold off later in today's ses sion, with the result that prices in the early afternoon were about at previous final Jevels. Electric Bond & Share, which !pufl.- ed more than a point a few minutes before Tuesday's close, shuttled back and forth within a 113-point range to- day. Cities Service dTenernlly was 8 trifle below its preceding final quota- ‘tion. Standard Oil of Indiana moved ! narrowly. ‘The hck of activity or price moves during the first several hours discour- aged traders, who pointed out that much of the news was favorable. The decline in electric output last week was less than in the preceding seven days. Steel operations expanded and scrap rices firmed. From the oll trade came ndications of sporadic gasoline price advances. Ford Motor, Ltd., remained unchanged despite London cables telling of the Dagenham plant strike settlement by & wage increase. Although truck manu- facturers profess to see good business resulting from the return of beer, the Test cf the automotive trade is not mak- ing predictions. American Light & Traction, which is controlled by United Light & Power, marketwise ignored its 1932 statement showing $2.17 & common chare against $2.89 a share in 1931. United Light & Power during this period was inactive. Axton-Fisher Tobacco A caused & stir | as it opened 38 bid, 50 offered, and subsequently sold at 40, up 5% points. National Sugar Refining of New Jersey opened up 2 points at 28%. Fajardo Sugar was 25 bid, with none ‘offered. Several weeks ago it sold at 25}, up 31, points. The statistical position cf su;nr is responsible for the strength of that commodity. Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea was moderately active and steady. H. C. Bohack opened off 5 points at 21 on its first trade in more than a month. On its last previous sale of 26 it was down 157 points, following an unfavorable monthly sales report. Deere & Co. was off a half point in early dealings in sympathy with a decline in grains, POWER OUTPUT GAINS DURING PAST WEEK By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, March 29 —Electric power production in the United States improved last week after a steady de- cline since early in February. Thomson & McKinnon—Continued strength in wheat would be extremely helptul in exomdlng the rally in mcu Frazier, Jelke & Co—The nctlon of stocks in the market provides a rea- sonably accurate picture of the attitude the business world is taking toward the trade outlook. There is a general hope for better things in a reascnable length of time, but a disposition to post- Pone new commitments until hopes are supported by more tangible indications. Redmond & Co.—The attitude of most investors appears to be one of watchful waiting, which we believe to be & sensible one. The market still shows no definite signs of emerging from its trading area. Shields & Co.—For the immediate future, however, there is no reason to change trading policy of selling the leaders on flumz; improvement in the price levels for certain deflated :‘ummodmes and equities favorably tuated. Jackson Bros, Boesel & Co.—We see further evidence of coming inflation in the recently enacted bank law, which permms the Hecon.strucnon Finance Corporation to purchiu erred stock in new or reorganized and to make loans upcn such stock. It is con- celvable thpt a vast amount of new credit will pumped into the market if wide latitude is resorted to in this direction.
