Dix, 66, an employe in The Evening Star composing room for about 30 years, died yesterday at his home, 1601 Thirty-eighth street, fol- lowing a long illness. He had been operated upon for a stomach ailment before Christmas. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm. tomorrow at his home, followed by burial in Fort Lincoln Cemetery. Masonic services will be conducted at the grave by The New Jerusalem Lodge, No. 9, of which he was a member. Mr. Dix was born in Wytheville, Va., a son of the late Willlam A. Frances H. Dix, and came to Washing- ton as a boy. He learned the printing trade here and came to The Star in December, 1902. He served as a_captain of Company D, Washington Fight Infantry, after rising from the ranks. He was also a member of Columbia aphical Union.
