Member of the Board of Lecture- ship of The Mother Church, The Pirst Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. In First Church of Christ, Scientist Columbia Rd. & Euclid St. N.W. Thursday, Februury 2 At 8 P. Under the Auspices of First Church of Christ, Scientist No Collection All Welcome Seeking District's older public school buildings, the Board of Education today will re- quest the Commissioners to replace the antiquated hot-air heating *plants in four schools with modern systems. The buildings mentioned in the spe- cific request are the Cook, the Morgan, the Cleveland and the Towers schools. Frequent complaints against the old hot-air furnaces have been voiced by parents whose children are made i1l by the fumes of gas and soot which come from them. On other occasions class rooms have been inadequately heated. Each of the four plants sought for re- placement today was listed in the justi- fications for the 1933 appropriation bill. Scouts Are Refused. In its meeting late yesterday the school board granted use of school prop- erty to two outside agencies and de- clined other school facilities to a third agency. The board refused to permit Boy Scout Troop No. 507 to stage a program in the Garnet-Patterson Junior High School auditorium to raice funds for troop flags. At the same time the board agreed to authorize use of the same auditorium by James Reese Eu- rope No. 5 of the American Legion to raise funds for needy families. The board also decided to permit the In- augural Committee to stage a game of “Indian baell” in the Central High School stadium on March 3 as part of the inaugural ceremonies. Three promotions were approved by the board late yesterday. W. L. Brown, a teacher at the Birney School, was made principal of the Reno School; Mrs. L. 8. An argument over a nickel, during which he allegedly threatened the life of a delicatessen operator, cost Thur- man J. Dade, 26, colored, 360 days’ freedom when he appeared before Judge Gus A. Schuldt yesterday. Israel Lieberman said the colored man came into his store in the 900 block of Barry place Saturday night and picked up a nickel from the floor. Lieberman claimed the coin, but Dade refused to give it over. Finally the merchant obtained pos- session of the money and Dade left. He returned shortly with a gun, how- ever, which he pressed against the merchant’s side and demanded the nickel, Lieberman said. However, Po- liceman George W. Cook arrived at that moment and locked Dade up on an assault charge. uebermsn hu the nlckel $1 JAMES ;l‘ Special Chicken Box Whole_Pried Chicken Potato Balad, Apple xa'“f': ana Hot Rells for Delivered Hot n 20 Minutes.
