THE SUNDAY STAl Owing to the present world-wide state of depression, ladies with penthouse apartments arc having terrible times this year. Just because a lady lives in 2 grand apartment building is no reason she doesn't feel the pinch of hard times just as keenly as any one else. Take this lovely girl, for example. She was to have had her apartment done over Victorian by a swell decorator. Then stocks didn't pick up as expected, and now it looks as though she would have to stay modern for another 12 months! Anybody who is anybody thesc days is having a lot to say about the de- pression and being quoted about this and t in the news sheets. On the left we have political high-up who says, “We have passed the worst of the depression, and now everything is going to be just dandy.” On the right, a famous educator opines that “the depression has only just started.” At the top. a solvent bank president offers the advice that if we spend lavishly and wisely, all will be well.
