Mackay were back home today from s European honeymoon, much perturbed by the ection of customs guards, who kept them at a pier for two hours. Seven customs men searched every | piece of the Mackays' luggage as a result of an anonymous letter that Mrs. Mackay was bringing in several unde- clared gowns. He bought some lingerie later, but he charged it and in the end I paid for it.” “Did he supply you with food?” her attorney asked. “Not after the first three months.” Withers was “able-bodied,” but failed to support her, she said. Miss Young and her actor husband eloped by airplane to Yuma, Ariz, and were married January 26, 1930. Mrs, Gladys R. Belzer, her mother, threat- ened annulment action for a time, but it was never taken. A property settlement provided neither Withers ncr Miss Young should seek alimony from the other. BAN ON MARIIUANA PLANTING PLANNED Commissioner of Narcotic Bureau Preparing Model Law to Offer States. By the Associated Press. A uniform law to prohibit the grow- ing of marijusna plants s being pre- pared for presentation to the different State Legislatures. Commissioner Anslinger of the Nar- cotic Bureau, in making known that the legislation was being drawn up, sald the Federal Government under the Constitution could not dictate what flz‘:t]:ah grown within the individual k= He said marijuana was used chiefly in Louisiana, Texas and California. It is produced from three varieties of plants, “the flowers of which are smoked in cigarettes. 3 Anslinger said Texas enacted a law prohibiting the growing of marijuana which went into effect July 1, since which time Texas authorities have mowed down the plants wherever found. Anslinger expleined there were no Federal laws affecting either the 80 or use of marijuana.
