Alderman, 61, of 664 Maryland avende northeast, widely known as a rifle expert, died cf heart disease it Walter Reed Hospital last night following a brief illness. A veteran of the World War, Capt. Alderman_will be burled in Arlington National Cemetery with military horiors. Funera] arrangements have not been completed. Was Noted Marksman. Capt. Alderman, a native cf Ham- mondsport, N. Y.. had been connected with the Government Printing Office for. 32 years, serving as a monotype key board operator. He enlisted in the Dis- trict Natlonal Guard in 1900 and was commissioned #s a captain in the Ord- nance Department 13 years later. He was mustered into the Federal service in _1916. Gaining prominence as a rifle shot at Seagirt, N. J., and Camp Perry, Ohio, he was a member of the International Palma Rifle team at Ottawa, Canada, in 1012, and for three years was a member of the Dewar International Trophy team. On September 5, 1918, sioned a captain of In- fantry in the National Army and was detailed as rifle instructor at Camp Perry, later being transferred to Camp Benning. Ga., in the same capacity. He was honorably discharged at Camp Benning December 31, 1918, and re- sumed his position in the Government Printing Office. Was Legion Member. He was a charter member of George Washington Post, No. 1. the American Leglon: member of the Society of Vet- eran Officers of the 3d District of Co- lumbia Infantry: Military Service Le- ion and Columbia Typographical Union.
