B—10 BONNERWOULDBAN 5. POWER BOARD Commission Has Outlived Usefulness, He Tells ‘President’s Secretary. F. E. Bonner, former executive sec- retary of the Federal Power Commis- sion, where his connection was severed last December in the course of a reor- ganization that was ascribed to dis- sension among minor officials, favors abolition of the commission. Bonner made known his views yester- day as he terminated his employment with the Government, having gone from the Power Commission to the Reclamation Service, where he had temporary employment at $25 a day in connection with a survey of California Wwater resources. After calling at the White House, Bouner issued a statement saying he maented the suggestion to Walter Newton, secretary to President Hoover, as a step “in the administration econ- omy program.” “The commission has outlived its use- fulness and the trivial duties remain- ing might well be absorbed elsewhere,” he said. “There was not much need for it at the outset and now it has be- ‘come merely a device to serve the ends of professional politicians. Whatever usefulness it had is ended.” It was announced at the commission lest December that Bonner had been dropped, along with Charles A. Russell, solicitor, and William V. King, chief accountant, with whom he had been at odds. He, on the contrary, insisted he resigned. Mr. King was later restored to duty.
